Don't really have much experience with diagnosing laptops though so i can only suggest stuff that i'd look up if i had an issue like you do. A big thanks must go to Simrick for solving the problem on another thread on this forum. This is what actually controls the hardware based on what you set in the 'bios'. Unplug the laptop and pull the battery.
