I CAN'T BELIEVE IT...! Newer drives are SATA and use a small, L-shaped connector. 2. I didn't try assigning letters and all that crap as I didn't want to be transfer stuff off my hard drive to wipe it clean. I don't think I'm going to be successful.
I have to go through a "Restart" of the pc, then it will show, and view the chip. I have hard disk with USB 3 which is not mounted when I installed windows 10. Also, try using different cables as some are able to carry more power than others. File system is NTFS.
It works when connected to my other laptop, and I know the usb port isn't dead because it works when other devices such as my mouse are connected to it.
