Also the current PC works with different flash drives (1GB and 16 GB) in the """front USB""" well in windows XP but the extHDD won't work on front USB. I tried it on my XP machine and all is well. Thanks! I have 2 external USB2.0 Harddrives (PackardBell 400GB, WD 1TB). I tried connecting the EHD to the other two laptops I have, it does work fine. If the drive has become corrupt or has bad sectors, these tools can fix it.

I don't want to format it as it contains extremely important data. The drives don't even show up in the disk manager so I cannot rename the drives. The HDD was working fine as I updated windows though it failed to be recognised. I can't get any computer to detect the old drive no matter which PCB is attached to it.
